Eurovision Choir of the Year descends on Riga

Participants taking part in Eurovision Choir of the Year have arrived in Riga, Latvia for the inaugural competition. The show will take place this coming Saturday, 22nd July and will be broadcast live from the Riga Arena. The competition follows the culmination of the 3rd European Choir Games, also taking place in the Latvian capital.

The 3rd European Choir Games

156 choirs from 30 nations, including 5000 singers have descended on Latvia to sing and celebrate a colourful festival of choral music and share their cultures and music. Earlier this week an opening event for the participating choirs took place at the Latvian National Library in Riga. The flags of all participating nations welcomed the singers and demonstrated the diversity of nations which come together for this event. The emotional opening with choristers from all over the world, performing music from their home countries, offered a small but intriguing taste of the days full of choral music to come.
